Stitch It was proud to support judo competitor Matthew
Molchanov as he represented Canada at the Cadet World Championships in Guayaquil,
Ecuador. Matthew delivered an impressive performance in the men’s -90 kg
division, earning a bronze medal at the World Championships.
Ahead of his journey to the Championships, our Laval location had the privilege
to put the finishing touches on Matthew’s gear.

Putting the Canada in Canada's Tailor
The Guayaquil World Championships brought together the best young judo competitors from around the world, and Matthew was the only Canadian competitor to advance to the final rounds of the tournament.
Matthew fought his way into the final block of the -90 kg competition, ultimately securing his bronze medal with a victory over Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Aliyev. The International Judo Federation highlighted Matthew among the top four athletes in the category who reached the final block.
The result is another highlight in what has already been a fantastic 2026 season for Matthew. Earlier this year, he won gold at both the Lima Cadet Panamerican Cup and the Lima Junior Panamerican Cup, as well as silver at the Panamerican Junior Championships.
