At Stitch It, to ensure that your wedding dress fits, feels, and looks great, we offer a wide variety of alterations. These alterations include, but are not limited to:

Adjusting the hem
Taking in/letting out the hips and waist
Taking in the dress around the chest
Altering the neckline of the dress
Adding sleeves or shortening straps
Lowering or raising the back
Adding custom accessories to the dress and/or veil

Apart from the standard alterations, we can customize your dress. We can add/remove sleeves, add appliques or beading, bustle the back train, modify the back by adding fabric and ribbons (Corset back) etc.

How To Prepare For Fittings

It’s important to ensure that you get the most out of your fitting so that you have a easier experience on your big day! Firstly, the bride should prepare for alterations at least 4-5 weeks prior to the wedding for any adjustments and additional fitting that may be required.

When budgeting, it is important to allow for necessary alterations needed for the wedding dress. Our customers must know that wedding dress alterations are more complex and delicate so extra time and care is needed to complete these alterations.

We recommend bringing or wearing the shoes you will be wearing on your wedding day so that our Fit Experts can get the correct wedding gown length for your alterations. You are also recommended to be wearing the correct or exact undergarments for the style of your wedding dress. This makes sure that the best fit, and overall comfort of the dress is top of mind. In addition, it’s important to think about all the different ways you’ll be moving on your wedding day so that your alterations can complement those movements and actions.
